About me
Joseph L’Africain serves as Director of Instructional Design and Assessment for the Maine Community College System, where he develops workforce-focused learning experiences and digital badges. A seasoned educator and curriculum designer, Joseph previously taught at Malcom X College, DePaul University, and Mount Ida College. He joined MCCS in 2019, bringing a strong background in teaching and curriculum development for diverse learners. He is driven by a commitment to helping Mainers grow and succeed through education and is especially focused on ensuring programs offered through the system are aligned with real-world workforce needs. Joseph works closely with faculty and industry partners to ensure relevance and impact in every training experience. He holds a BA, MA, and Ed.S. Joseph lives on the island of Vinalhaven with his wife, Sue, and their bernadoodle, Digby. Outside of work, he enjoys food, wine, and cooking.
