About me
Dr. Andrea Fortin is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and serves as Faculty Coordinator of Micro-credentials and Digital Badges. In this role, she partners with faculty, administrators, and regional employers to design and assess workforce-aligned micro-credentials and to develop scalable models for university–employer collaboration. Her work emphasizes employer-validated competencies, instructional design for micro-credentials, and evidence-based assessment strategies that document learner outcomes and program impact.Dr. Fortin’s research examines compassionate communication, confidence, and micro-credentialing in higher education, with a focus on measuring transferable, employer-valued skills and evaluating the impact of credentials on student readiness and workforce alignment. She holds a PhD in Communication from the University of South Florida, an MA in Public Communication from Fordham University, and a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Technology: Distance Learning. She is a member of NCA, ILA, CAEL, and UPCEA.
