Drawing on current research across higher education, industry, and policy, the presentation clarifies key definitions, distinguishes badges from microcredentials, examines stakeholder roles, and surfaces persistent challenges related to value, recognition, and scale. The session concludes with a research-informed agenda for future development and study.
